Chapter 6- Tears

Chapter 6- Tears

Violet

My eyes filled with tears, I tried to wipe them away but they just kept coming and wouldn’t stop. Eventually I gave up wiping them and let myself cry. I didn’t say anything. I just stood and stared at my treehouse, the part of my life that had helped me get through so much. The part of my life that had let me cry in when I was scared, dance in when I was happy, and just sit in when I wanted to be alone. The treehouse that I had spent weeks to build, suffuring through splinters and cuts and bruises, which I could never explain to my mom. The tears flowed more and more, bringing back memories of Peppy and Jake, of being a kid, and how easy things used to be back then. Back before I discovered I was a fairy, I thought to myself, but I didn’t dare let myself believe it. Being a fairy didn’t make life harder, it just made life more… complicated.

I was standing in my treehouse. It was in pieces. Holes torn everywhere in the wood, all my belongings I had stored here broken. You could look up and see the sky through 3 stories of the treehouse. I was completely devastated. And worst of all, the remains of the shadow falcons were scattered everywhere. Dirt, debree, and ash scattered all over.

                I choked back a sob and took a deep breath, finally realizing that all my friends were huddled around trying to comfort me. Frost nudged me, her eyes soft and understanding.

                “Violet, im so… so… so sorry. If there’s anything I can do to help-?” I cut frost off,

                “No.”

                “No?” She asked confused.

                “We aren’t going to sit here and…” I sniffled, “And-and cry. They hurt us- they hurt me. And if- if they hurt us, im going for them. The shadows, they will not prevail.” I laughed, realizing how weirdly determined I’d sounded, but I let the words hang in the air.

                “Nice girl, nice speech. But we don’t need inspiring words right now, this is real life. Not some book.” Colt grumbled. I stared daggers at him. Maybe that had sounded funny, but I wasn’t kidding when I said what I said. All of my sadness drained away and was replaced with anger and hate toward Colt.

                “Colt,” I ordered.

                “Huh?” He rudely asked.

                Who are you Colt?” I prodded.

                “Who am i?”
                “You’ve told us your story, but who are you, what are you?” I narrowed my eyes as I said it. I knew he understood what I was asking.

                “Who am i- Oh.” He inhaled sharply. “I’m afraid that’s personal classified information sweetie” He grimaced, “I don’t have to tell you anything.

                “You live here, your part of Celestial Towers. And I just saved your life. You owe it to me. You have to tell me.” I pushed him harder. He rolled his eyes.

                “Fine, fine. If you insist.”  He inhaled again, “I was a mountain fairy. My element was mountains. I was hanging around on them mountains when… they appeared.” He stopped as if he was remembering something but then continued. “I was a shadow fairy after that.” He shook his head. But we all stared at him, perplexed. He had said was a shadow fairy. Not is. Which means somehow… somehow he had been cured.

                I heard Fira gasp. She held on to her heart and asked the question we were all wondering.

                “How.”

Author's Note:

Chapter 5- Gone

Ok- so listen up guys! I know most of you are from CT and know that Willow and Alice are no longer part of CT- which means they can no longer be part of the story. For now I don’t really want to have to go through and change Willow and Alice and take them out and stuff- so just pretend Alice and Willow were never in the story and Frost was who Willow has been in the story. So Frost is pretty much the one who has seen the flower and such and she is going on the quest with them- and Oak is also going too. So yup. Its Fira, Nia, Violet, Frost, and Oak I believe. Yup. So, without further adieu, here is chapter 5!

Fira

When I say shadows- you probably think I meant shadow fairies. But I mean shadow Falcons. Shadow fairies are like tornadoes in the shape of fairies- but all animals can come in this shadow form. And most of them live in groups or in the Shadow Kingdom.
These were large Shadow Falcons- Each as big as us. There must have been at least a dozen of them circling the sky above, letting off large shrieks and swarming something in the sky. The sounds where horrifying- cries, shrieks, cackles, and other horrible sounds. When they finally backed away, a fairy fell from their claws. He looked up at us with bloodshot eyes. His gray wings were in shreds and his gray fur had clumps ripped off and you could see his skin under. I looked down at him and all I could think was fear. I didn’t know what to do. I knew I had to get away. But I knew I couldn’t leave him. I looked up at Frost for help but she looked just as stunned as me. Nia was gripping Violet and they were both staring into the sky, paralyzed with fear. Frost gulped and hoisted the fairy onto her back.
“Run.” She ordered. And so I did.
I ran and ran and ran for so long. My mind went blank and all I saw was the blur of my surroundings. I couldn’t hear anything except the screeching of the shadow falcons and the sound of my own heartbeat. I didn’t stop until I felt Violet shaking me from behind and finally hear her voice.
“Fira! C’mon! Can you not hear me? You need to come this way- follow me! I know where to go!” She gasped.
“Sorry- sorry Vi. Yeah- yeah show-sh-show me the way…. Hurry….” I panted. I could still clearly hear the screeches of the birds up above but I didn’t dare look up. Somehow they hadn’t come down to us yet- but they had followed us all this way. My thoughts suddenly cleared and I realized that they hadn’t come down because we were on the ground and moving fast and they had the best chance of catching us if we were flying. But if we stopped they could circle us and destroy us like they did to the other fairy. So I kept moving and followed Nia, Violet, Oak and Frost deeper into the Forest. Even though we had been running mindlessly through the forest for a long time, Violet still seemed to know where we were. She lead us to her treehouse and we all ran inside. She bolted the door best she could and led us into the room. We reached a wall and she pressed into one of the wood panels and a door appeared. She pushed it open and we all rushed inside. She closed the door and made sure that from the outside they couldn’t see it- except im not sure how she did that since we were on the inside- and assured us we were safe and told us to rest.
I scanned the room she had brought us into. It wasn’t much of a room really- it was more like an underground chamber. It was all dirt- the walls, the floor, and the ceiling. It was really dark except for bits of light coming in from the wood wall that led into the treehouse. We all fit fine in it- with lots of room to move around. But there wasn’t much to do but sit and catch our breath. But that didn’t matter because that’s all I wanted to do. For a few minutes we did. We just sat and caught our breath and let our eyes adjust to the darkness. Frost- being a Sage- made some thing with the dirt, plants growing off the walls, and bits of water leaking in from the ceiling that made the dirt glow- with Oak’s help of course, since she is a warlock. It let off some light but Oak kept messing up with whatever her part of the job was and it took them a few tries before they made a glowing ball of dirt. It glowed light green and made the room glow the same greenish color. Once we had all caught our breath our first order of business was to figure out what exactly happened to the fairy we saw fall from the sky.
Frost had somehow carried him all this way, and Oak and Frost talked to him while we all listened. The whole time Frost kept giving him sips of medicine she had made and other stuff.
“So… first things first….” Frost offered, but Oak cut her off.
“Whats your name?” Oak asked a little to exitedly.  The fairy looked at them with a pained look. When he talked he had a raspy voice, probably partly because the state he was in, and partly because he was pretty old.
“Colt. Colt Gare.” The fairy told us.
“Well… Colt…” Frost gave Oak a don’t-interrupt-me-or-your-dead sort of look and then went on, “What exactly… happened?” Colt raised his eyebrows.
“What happened? Well, I live in this forest. I left misty mountains a long time ago to come live here in the forest of CT.” He turned to look at Violet, “Vi, you’re a tough cookie, hope ya don’t mind me hoppin’ around your forest. We’re all fairies here, right?” He laughed, “Well, ya see, I was just flyin’ around when I saw those there falcons. Shadow Falcons. Whatever You call ‘em. They were headin’ right to me, so I flew away. But they caught me. And then you show up. Lucky me, eh? That you come just when I need you!” He laughed again and we all waited for him to continue but he didn’t seem to have anything else to say so Oak filled in the silence.
“Do you not like Misty Mountains or something?” She asked matter-of-factly.
“Kid, I like to be alone. And even the forest over in the Misty Mountains wasn’t quiet enough for me. Here’s much better. So I came here. Any more questions?” I didn’t really like this guy so far. I couldn’t help feeling bad for him considering what happened to him, but he didn’t seem to be taking it very seriously, so why should I? He acted like he got ripped up by Shadows every day and it wasn’t a big deal. I decided I didn’t want to hear anymore of this guy so I changed the subject.
“Violet, what is this place?” I asked.
“I’m not really sure…. I guess I created it just as a safe place in case… something like this happened.”
“It’s really smart Violet. You probably saved our lives.” Nia commented. In the dim light I could see Vi blushing.
“Oh, it was really nothing.” Vi said.
Once the clatter of the Falcons left we decided the birds were gone and it was safe to go back into the treehouse. Violet opened the door and we all stepped out of the musty little chamber. When I saw what the falcons had done to Violet’s Tree house I didn’t know what to say.

Chapter Four- Into the Forest

Chapter Four- Into the Forest

Fira

Violet, Nia, and I talked to Willow. We decided it would be best to leave today, or at least tomorrow. The sooner the better. A fox walked in from a door leading to another room. She had light blue fur and was wearing black headphones. She was listening to a song but slipped off her headphones to look up at us. The room suddenly got quiet as she entered and she and Violet eyed each other of a few seconds.
“Hi guys... Hi Vi and Willow… Umm… Whatcha doin?” She was eyeing me and Nia awkwardly, staring especially at our wings.
“Alice- this is Fira…” She gestured towards me, “… and Nia…” She gestured towards Nia, “And they are… uh… well… let me explain…” She took Alice into the room she had come from, probably to explain what was happening. I looked over at Violet and Nia.
“Violet, who’s she?” Asked Nia.
“Umm… well… that’s Alice. She’s really close friends with Willow… umm…” I could tell Violet was uncomftorable talking about Alice for some reason.
“So… Violet… is Willow the only person coming along with us… or is there more who might come?” I asked.
“Well… I’m not sure. Willow is talking to Alice right now and Alice might end up wanting to come… but I doubt it… we have a weird relationship, her and I.” Violet said.
Willow and Alice came back into the room.
“You guys have fun with that quest of yours. I’m going to stay here and hang.” She slipped her headphones back on and headed back out of the room.
“So, what do you say, guys? Should we head out?” Willow asked. And we all nodded.

We walked around the Village. Willow said she was going to pick up a few random supplies at the store before we left. I mean- since she was a warlock and Violet knew the forest really well, we probably weren’t going to have any trouble surviving. We really had nothing to worry about at the moment.
We entered a small little store at the edge of town and made our way inside. It sold pretty much anything you wanted. A younger fox with brown fur was not to far away from us in the store. Violet and Willow recognized her right away and ran up to her.
“Hey Oakie!” They exclaimed.
“Hey guys! Whats up?” Replied ‘Oakie’ excitedly. Violet gestured for us to come over. Nia and I slowly flew over and landed near them.
“Guys- this is Oak. Oak- this is Nia and Fira. Oak’s my apprentice in magic and our friend.” Willow said. Oak smiled.
“Nice to meet you!” She said giddily. She was a very high-spirited fox. All jumpy and full of energy.
“Nice to meet you too!” Said Nia.
“Yeah- Nice to meet you!”
“So what are you guys doing here?” Oak asked us.
“Umm.. well..” Violet cut me off.
“I can explain.” She whispered the whole predicament into Oak’s ear. Her eyes widened as she heard the story.
“I have to come. Please! Do you mind if I tag along? And since I’m Willow’s apprentice it won’t be too bad- I mean… she can teach me magic and stuff on the way, right?” Exclaimed Oak.
“Well… I guess so Oak. Welcome to the team!” Smiled Willow and oak gave a slight squeal of excitement.
“So when do we leave?” She asked.
“Well… now…” I said.
“Oh, ok…”
We headed into the forest. Oak, Violet, Nia, Willow, and I. It smelled wonderful- like cedar trees. I took a long whiff of the smell. We walked deeper into the forest. As we got farther it got a little bit darker but much more peaceful. Me and Violet and Nia where hovering/flying over the ground with Oak, and Willow who were on foot. Willow kept pointing out certain plants or things to Oak and explaining them to her. I guess it was some sort of apprenticing. We decided to take a rest and decide where to start.

That was when I saw the shadows.

Chapter Three- Ideas

Violet

From the moment Fira heard that I didn’t know what element I was she had been acting a little bit weird. I could tell she was hiding something. But I decided not to talk about it. Its not like I wasn’t hiding anything from her.
The truth is, Jake isn’t with my mom. My mom is dead- at least that’s what the warlocks think. They aren’t sure. But right now Jake and I are ruling the kingdom. I just couldn’t tell them about mom. I wasn’t ready to talk about it.
Jake is actually out in the village talking to Hawkspirit, or maybe Blackstone, I don’t really pay attention. He has his own group of friends.
Sometimes I feel like an outsider in the kingdom. Jake always hangs with the warlocks, the warlocks always hang with each other, the shop keepers are always together. But im just sort of… alone. I mean its not really true. I have some friends. Like Alice, or Willow. But its kind of awkward for me to talk to Alice, since she is really Juniper’s ‘new self’ or whatever you call it. Its just weird. Because no matter what, Alice is not Juni. Alice is not my sister.
But back to the present. Fira suggested we go up into the clouds. Im not sure how she even knew you could go on clouds, but she said she remembers faintly her mother doing it with her when she was little. So we are up in the sky, close to a cloud. I guess it’s the most private place we can get.
Once we reach the cloud we make our way on top of it. It’s the most amazing thing I have ever done. The cloud feels like cotton and you can see for miles and miles ahead of you. It smells almost minty, with a tint of water. Something about the cloud reminds me of a forest, though I have no idea why.
“This is amazing.” I say.
“It is.” Says Nia. We both turn to Fira. She has tears in her eyes but shes wiping them away with her paw.
“You okay?”
“Ya, sorry, I’m fine.” I don’t believe her but I decide not to talk about it.
“So Fira… What where you saying?”
“Yes. Yes. Okay. So… my father. He was turned into a shadow before I could fly. I was so young. I don’t remember him at all. But we went on this long quest to find my mother because he took her and…” Fira was talking so fast I could barely understand what she was saying. Something was wrong.
“…Fira. Let me explain.” Said Nia. “Lets start from the beginning. I’ll make it short. At least as short as I can. So this one day Fira’s mom disappeared. We had to find her or else the kingdom would go into peril and… well… anyway… So we went on this quest to find her mother and we discovered that her mother had been taken by her father, who was indeed a shadow fairy. We found him in the forest in his layer and rescued Fira’s mother, as well as capturing him in a bottle.” I nodded, soaking it all in, “Since then Fira’s mother has pretty much gone insane. She wants her husband back. And we are once again trying to save the kingdom.” She rolled her eyes. Fira took a deep breath.
“I can continue from there Nia.” Fira cut her off, “So we’ve come here because we found an ancient book about a flower that can turn bad into good. Its supposedly so powerful that it can turn a shadow good. It was all we could find that had even a slight hope of getting my dad back.” She held open her paw and a fireball appeared in it and a book transformed from the fire. “Here’s the book.”
I opened the book and read all about the flower. I soaked it all in. It was truly amazing. But it made total sense why the flower would be here. Because our kingdom is Air and Light elements. And if this is a light flower- it makes sense that it would be found here.
“So this is what you want to find?”
“Yes.”
“I have a friend who can probably help.”

We landed in front of Willow’s house. It was a cabin made of wood but it totally fit her style. I had been in it many times. Its messy inside- but even though its messy it seems organized. Its funny. Willow usually doesn’t mind if I just come in but I knock just in case. I don’t hear a response so I just open the door. Willow looks up from her desk where she’s reading and quickly shuts the book and makes it disappear.
“Oh.. Umm… Hi Vi.”
“Hey.”
“Whatcha doin- and who r they?” She asks suspiciously, gesturing towards Nia and Fira.
“Well….. long story. But they need your help.” She curiously examined both of them and then raised her eyebrows.
“What da ya need help with?”
Fira and Nia explained everything to Willow- giving close details about the flower. But when Willow got her paws on the book she almost fainted. Willow had a thing with books and I guess this book was valuable and cool somehow because she just stared intently and the pages making squeaking sounds and gasping. This went on for a few minutes when she finally looked up at us.
“I would love to help you. I have seen this flower. It was a few years ago- and I haven’t seen it since. Its so rare… so valuable. I want to find it. I will help you.”
Fira let out a gasp of relief and Nia just grinned.

Authors Note:

Im back from vacation! I have been thinking about misty wings and I think I will just keep willow, nia, fira, and violet in the story. But I can also add Oak if she wants to be added- im fine with it. Just tell me.

Chapter Two- The Kingdom

Fira

“So your saying that we have to go to Celestial Towers to save your mother?” Nia questions.
“That, or we let her go insane.” I reply. Nia rolls her eyes.
“Fira I want to help you but this book says that it might not even exist… what if we find nothing.” I look into her eyes. This isn’t the Nia im used to.
“We have to take chances. This kingdom needs a queen. And im not ready for the job. Im not being selfish Nia. Believe me. We need to do this!” She looks at me suspiciously for a few seconds and then smiles giddily.
“Alright. I’ll go.”
“Thank you!” I hug her. “We should leave tomorrow” She raises her eyebrows.
“The sooner the better I guess.” She says.
“Exactly.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hear nia at the door and rush down. Im wearing a satin cape and I have one in my hand for her.
“What are these for?” She asks as soon as she sees me wearing them. I shrug.
“A disguise. We want to sneak out with style, right?” She grins.
“Sure Fira. Whatever you say.” We both slip on the capes and hurry out the door. The town is quiet this early in the morning and I feel so sneaky as we head towards the back exit of the kingdom.
We reach the gates just as the sun begins to rise. But right before I slip over the gate I hear Opal.
“Fira, Wait!” I look behind me to see Opal, Dorn, Shatter, Blitz, and Shala. And of course Tice, Shala’s dragon.
“What are you guys doing here!?” I ask in astonishment.
“Blitz spotted you from high in a tree in the forest and came to get us. What are you doing?” Replies Dorn.
“We are going to, well, long story. But we have to save my mother. And that requires saving Shade. And saving Shade requires a journey.” Dorn looks hopeful but suspicious.
“Fira- do you really think you can save a Shadow fairy?” Asks Dorn.
“I don’t know- but I have to try.” They all nod and take in what I’ve said.
“Well we bid you farewell Fira. And good luck.” Shala says. Me and Nia both go around and hug everyone goodbye and they say good luck and then we are back standing near the gate, ready to leave.
“Take care of my mother.” I say. And with that we fly up and get ready to leave.
“Good Bye!” They all call, and with that we are on our way. Nia is next to me. Her wings reflect the light beautifully and the long scarf she has tied around her tail cascades behind her. It’s all because of the light. Nia is a light fairy.
After about half an hour of flying I finally see the silhouette of a tall brick castle ahead.
“We’re here!” I gasp and I pick up speed. The air feels so good as it quickly brushes against my face. We finally see the castle clearly. It’s a medium sized castle made of black bricks. Its actually very beautiful- surrounded by thick green grass and rainbow colored wild flowers. Nia and I land in front and take in the sight.
We approach the large double wooden door to the castle and I have to fly up a few inches to reach the knocker. We stand for a few moments before the door creaks open. Standing there is Violet Roil. Not that I actually know what she looks like but I know its her because of her wings. She stares wide eyed at us for a moment and then shakes the shocked look off her face.
“Hello” She says, obviously very surprised.
“Hi. I’m Fira. We’ve come from Misty Mountains.” I say cautiously… not exactly sure how to introduce myself.
“Oh, Hi!” She steps forward for a moment as if considering to hug us but doesn’t. “So… not to be rude but… why are you here…?”
“We might want to talk in private about it.” Says Nia before I have a chance to respond. I just nod in agreement.
“Ok… do you guys mind if I take you somewhere a ways away?” she pauses, “Well its not that far I guess considering you guys can fly. Usually I have to wait for the ones on foot.” I imagine being the only fairy around and being so… different.
“Sure. As long as its private.” I reply.
“Oh, its definitely private.” She responds. She exits out the castle and slowly closes the door behind her. Then she takes off into the sky and we follow. “Its so nice to be able to travel by air for once. Its just so much more efficient.” She laughs as she cascades through the air.
“I can’t imagine. Having to wait up for them all the time!” Nia says- taking the words right out of my mouth.
“So, Violet,” I come up beside her, “Where was everyone? They weren’t in the castle, right?” I ask.
“Oh no. They went out to swim and catch fish. Well, Jake pretty much dragged mom along.” She laughed, “I don’t know why he was so excited. I mean, he never really fishes. But of course I couldn’t go- I mean with my wings and all.”
“Umm… Jake…?” I ask- not really sure who jake is.
“Sorry- Jake’s my brother.” We are all silent for most of the rest of the trip- just not sure what to talk about. I stare at Violet the whole time, she has beautiful magenta wings and light tan fur. I suddenly wonder something,
“Violet!” I rush up next to her, “What element are you?” She looks surprised at first.
“Element? Well… I have no idea. I can recall talking to the queen one night…”
“My mother.” I reply.
“Oh. Princess Fira then.” She giggles.
“Nia you’re the only one who isn’t royal here.” I tease- she shrugs.
“I got over that fact a long time ago.” She smiles.
“So back to the element,” Continues Violet, “I can’t remember anything of that night. I remember arriving and talking to her. But I can’t remember any of the details!” I’m surprised at this comment. Especially because it seems as if you’d want to know what element you are.
“Are you sure you don’t remember anything?” I ask.
“Positive.” She says. That can only mean one thing. My mother has told me this before, but I never thought it was real. She told me there is a special type of fairy. A very rare type of fairy. An immortal fairy. They can die- but they always come back to life somehow. But the thing is, they are very powerful. If they know they are this type of power they know that they have all the elements. And that is when they can use their power. When they know.
But they can’t know. So my mother must have erased Violet’s memory from that night. Concluding that the only possibility is that Violet is one of the most rare fairies in the world.
We reach a place in the forest and lower to the ground.
“Here we go.” Violet says as she walks into the treehouse. It’s a well-built house within the trees made from cedar wood which smells wonderful. Inside theres a fireplace and furniture.
“This is amazing!” I say, eyeing the whole place.
“Thanks,” Violet blushes, “I spent weeks working on it.”
“You made this!?” Nia asks with amazement. Im just as surprised.
“Yeah.” Says violet matter-of-factly.
“You have an amazing talent Violet, how did you..” I ask but Violet cuts me off.
“… I don’t know. I’ve always had a knack for things in nature.” She grins, “So, what did you need to talk about?”
“A flower. It’s only found here. I read about it in a book, it cures evil. Its like insanely powerful. Do you know anything about it?” Violet looks shocked.
“And may I ask why you are looking for this flower?” She says rudely.
“Its really important.” Nia says, leaving the rest for me to say.
“My mother, she has lost her husband twice and shes going crazy. She wants him- she needs him. Or else she will go completely insane. And then our kindom will have no queen. And without a queen, well, im sure you know what will happen.”
“I understand, but how can this flower help?” By the way Violet’s saying all this, I can tell she knows something, and she’s suspicious.
“My dad- he was turned into a Shadow.” At that note the whole room falls silent. Its as if the whole forest is listening in. Even the birds stop chirping.
“Never say that word in the forest. It knows more then you think.” What is she talking about? What is it? The forest? The forest knows more then you think? “And Fira” She looks at me, “Nia.” She looks at Nia, “If we are going to talk about this we need to be in private- without even the forest listening.”
Author's Note:
Sorry this took so long! But I finally finished it and... well... heres chapter two! I probably wont post the next chapter for a while. We are leaving tomorrow on vacation and we will be gone for two weeks, and I doubt ill have the time to write chapter three down there- but who knows?
Also, Gylfie101/frost is writing the story from the POV of Shala, Dorn, Opal, Shatter, and Blitz and what is happening to them right now. Its really cool O3O http://planetdobutsu.blogspot.com/
That's about it... So ya.
Chapter One- The Flower
I am proud to announce the sequel- ~FLOWER OF LIGHT~ Is its name. I have titled the first book ~QUEST FOR THE SHADOW~. The series' name is MISTY WINGS.
Fira
For months now mother has been going nuts. She hasn’t actually gone psycho yet- but im afraid if I don’t do something soon she will. I’m not sure what has gotten into her. We were peacefully running the kingdom when I suddenly found her one day curled up in her room, tears in her eyes, the vile of shade in her hand, muttering unnecessary things to herself while blankly staring into the watery dust of whats left of her husband.
I guess when I put it that way, you can see why shes sad. But she went so many years without him I don’t see why she is suddenly so sad. Maybe after finally seeing him- no matter what state of mind he was in- she just couldn’t bare losing him once again. And she still hasn’t really lost him, because theres something left of him in the bottle, we just don’t know how to get it out.
I slowly walk up the steps, trying not to make much noise. Im not sure why but everything seems slow today and I don’t want to be loud. I hold some food for my mother, whos been huddled up in her room for a few hours now and refuses to come out for dinner. I carry a tray with fresh rasberries lightly coated with sugar, and large walnuts with some sort of seasoning on them. Everything we eat here is always gourmet, with our lovely cooks who want to impress us. But my mom hasn’t been eating much anyways so I haven’t brought her much, ill bring her more if necessary.
I reach her room, the plate still steaming with cooked walnuts. She lays curled up on the padded windowsill staring blankly out of the window, her paws clutching the vile so hard they’re shaking. Her fur is so pale- even more so then it usually is. She turns her head when she hears me enter.
“I brought you something to eat.” I say, setting it down on a small wooden desk next to the windowsill. She doesn’t say anything, and keeps staring out. I don’t expect her to reply, she hasn’t been talking for a few days. She mutters to herself, but wont make any direct communication with anyone. She reaches for a walnut and sucks on its rough coating. I make my way towards the exit of the room when I hear her say something.
“Wait” I turn cautiously, not sure if this was directed towards me. But I meet her puffy red eyes and I know shes ready to talk. “Fira I cant take it anymore. This feeling I have- we need him back. This kingdom needs him. And the thought of having him so close but never doing anything- never trying- never giving thought to him- to bring him back- Fira, I just don’t know what to do…” She breaks down in a flood of tears and sobs her emotions out. Within minutes she sniffles and stares blankly out the window again, as if she had never said anything to me. I don’t see a reason to say anything back to I exit the room, slowly shutting the door behind me.
What does she mean? She wants me to find a way to bring him back? I think about it. Shes on the verge- barely hanging on to reality. Soon she wont be able to handle herself and it will be impossible to change her. At this point- the only choice I have is to try to find a cure- something to bring a shadow back.
The library is the first place I look. Probably the only place here that I have a chance of finding something in. The librarian probably knows something too. He’s very wise and I trust him.
I enter the library. A few people from the kingdom are hanging around- I see Nia looking at one of the bookshelves and she waves. I wave back, but gesture for her not to come over. I’ll tell her what’s happening soon enough.
I see Clark organizing some books not far away. Clark is a handsome fox- with jet black fur and green eyes. He is so strong and his wings are almost golden. But he was a love for books. Hes the wise librarian.
“Clark!” I call to him as I come up to him.
“Hello Fira, its been a while!”
“Theres something I need to talk to you about. Something… umm… very important…” He looks a little shocked but very amused.
“Follow me.” He flies towards the back of the library. I follow. We wind through bookshelves and finally stop in a book isle with books about plants. Hi touches the ground thoughtfully and a small door appears. He slides it open and we both descend into a little room. Its empty and smells like it hasn’t been used in a while.
“Now you can talk.” He says.
“Well… You see… Its my mother. She wants Shade back. But its more then just want… it more like need. As if she doesn’t get him back she wont be able to go on.” He looks surprised at the thought. The strong queen backing down at the thought of her long lost husband not by her side.
“Bringing a shadow back is more then just a thing you find. It will be hard to get and will require a journey. Stay here.” She quickly flies up and within seconds is back down with a book.
“Read this. It will tell you everything.” He says.
“Thank you.” I nod and fly up and out of the library.
In my room I ly on my bed and almost rip open the book im so eager to read it.
THE FLOWER OF LIGHT
NOBODY KNOWS IF THIS FLOWER EVEN EXISTS. SAID TO CURE EVIL. USING THE FORCES OF LIGHT. IT IS THE FORCE OF GOOD. SOMETHING BARELY ANYONE HAS SEEN. IF THEY DO SEE IT THEY DO NOT KNOW ITS VALUE. THE FORCE IT CAN HOLD. THE MAGIC IT BARES.
THE ONLY KNOWN THING ABOUT IT IS IT GROWS ONLY IN THE FORESTS OF THE KINGDOM OF AIR AND LIGHT. CELESTIAL TOWERS.
After I read celestial the rest of the text fades, but I know what it talks of. My mother has told me about a fairy from their kingdom who was from here. She now lives as a princess there. Violet. From the kingdom of Celestial Towers.
Sequel Updates
Hi guys- I updated the sequel because I need to take out Willow and Alice from it. Im sorry Willow/Alice- its just that since your no longer part of CT I just don't think I can have you in the story.
Nix is intent on finding a way to bring Shade back- not the Shadow fairy- the old shade. After looking for weeks, Fira thinks she might have actually found a way to bring a shadow fairy back into what it used to be. But to do this, it requires a journey. Celestial Towers is a kingdom that beholds a flower in its forests that is said to be able to turn evil to good- shadows to fairies. Fira is determined to seek this flower down. But until she travels to Celestial Towers she has no idea that there are only one of these flowers left and it hasn't been seen for years. But Fira still thinks she might have what it takes to find this flower- I mean she found her long lost father. Violet, who was the last one to see the flower (and knows the forest better then anyone else in the kingdom, except for maybe a few citizens), leaves the kingdom with Fira in search of the flower. Bringing Oakfire and frost along the gang sets out to find a flower that is said to be non-existing.
What Fira doesn't realize, is the Shadows aren't letting her take Shade without a fight. They have been tracking the gang down and soon meet the shadow clones (could someone tell me more about shadow clones?). It soon becomes a race to who can find the flower first. And if Fira doesn't find it she will lose her chance to bring Shade back. And secretly, Fira isn't just doing it for her mother, she wants to meet the father she never knew.
Faced with impossible challenges, Fira, Nia, Oak, Violet, and Frost begin the sequel to Misty Wings.
Chapter Nineteen- Return
Fira
My mother held the bottle of Shade in her hands carefully.
“Do you think it would be possible to transform him back?” She mused. I gave a slight smile, knowing that she was hoping for the impossible.
“Just be happy he’s gone for now… we can think about stuff like that when we’re back. For now we need to get out of here, and we can’t leave without Nia and Shatter.” We both looked over at them. They both looked so embarrassed. Opal and Blitz had already transformed back but Opal hadn’t found a way to transform them back. But we knew there had to be a way. But how?
Suddenly Blitz screamed. I whisked around to see her back paw stuck in a crack in the floor. We all helped her out. The crack began to spread, and parts of the floor crumbled into the room below. We looked down, and Dorn let out a sharp breath. Below there was a pool of green slime. It was bubbling and let out a stench that was more then most of us could handle. We took a few steps back and flew high to get away from the smell. But Dorn didn’t seem phased.
“I know what this is. I read about it as a kid. But I never knew that it was… this.” He exclaimed staring down at the mass of green slop. “I think we’ve found what we were looking for.” He conjured up an ice cup with his hands and flew down, scooping up some of the green slime in the ice. He looked over at Nia and Shatter. He set the bowl down and looked intently at them.
“Cover yourselves in it. It will work.” Nia flew farther away from it, not sure if she trusted him enough to bathe in bad smelling green slime. But shatter had a bond with Dorn, and willingly flew forward. She dipped herself in the goo and rolled her round minion body around in the bowl until she had a thin coating of green on her messy fur. She flew up, barely able to stay stable with the heavy slime coating her. Suddenly she dropped to the floor with a thud and within seconds she was Shatter the fox- still covered in green slime. She looked at us with a shocked look.
“I feel like that pond.” She exclaimed and stuck out her tounge for enthusiasm. We all laughed, and now it was Nia’s turn.
After Nia had transformed back, Nix washed the goo off them with some water and we headed out the castle. We decided to just fly out the windows.
After Blitz creaked open a window we started our journey home. We stopped a few times but eventually reached the gates.
Misty Mountains- my home, my kingdom- looked like an old deserted town. Every house had its curtains and shutters closed and there was no movement in sight. Not even a flutter of wings. My mouth gaped at the sight.
“Where is everyone!” I exclaimed, baffled. My mother looked just as surprised as me.
“They must be here-they-I don’t know….” She trailed off, too stunned to talk any longer. As we flew through the kingdom we saw a shutter open in one of the houses and a face look out. They looked surprised, shocked, relieved, and happy all at the same time. They closed the shutters again and then all at once the whole kingdom awoke. Doors opened from all over and fairies rushed out and flew over to us. Within minutes it was as if the whole kingdom was crowded around us, talking wildly and asking questions. My mom looked surprised but then she took a deep breath and spoke to her kingdom.
“Much has happened in this past week! But we are alright now. We have no king, but a new leader. My daughter Fira will help me take care of our kingdom!” Cheers surrounded me as thoughts raced through my head. But eventually I put together my jumbled thoughts and ideas.
Much has happened in this past week. We saved my mother. Me, Nia, Shatter, Dorn, Opal, and Blitz. We defeated Shade. And now we were holding him in a bottle. But everything was alright for now. And me and my mother will lead the kingdom, me, my mother, and I.
Sequel!?
Well, I don't know if you guys have noticed but I have changed the name of the blog to 'misty wings- a series by adbout'. Its exciting to be nearing a new book in the misty wings series. Im sorry I haven't posted the next chapter yet, I am almost done but I probably wont post the chapter until tomorrow so I can let you guys read this post. I have come up with an idea for a sequel. Willow- I really liked your idea of merging Celestial Towers with Misty Mountains. I give Willow credit for that idea.
Also I will probably write a few more chapters before concluding the first book- although im not sure. Anyway, heres my idea for the sequel:
Nix is intent on finding a way to bring Shade back- not the Shadow fairy- the old shade. After looking for weeks, Fira thinks she might have actually found a way to bring a shadow fairy back into what it used to be. But to do this, it requires a journey. Celestial Towers is a kingdom that beholds a flower in its forests that is said to be able to turn evil to good- shadows to fairies. Fira is determined to seek this flower down. But until she travels to Celestial Towers she has no idea that there are only one of these flowers left and it hasn't been seen for years. But Fira still thinks she might have what it takes to find this flower- I mean she found her long lost father. Violet leads Fira to Willow, who was the last one to see the flower. Bringing Alice, Oakfire, Willow, Violet and frost along the gang sets out to find a flower that is said to be non-existing.
What Fira doesn't realize, is the Shadows aren't letting her take Shade without a fight. They have been tracking the gang down and soon meet the shadow clones (could someone tell me more about shadow clones?). It soon becomes a race to who can find the flower first. And if Fira doesn't find it she will lose her chance to bring Shade back. And secretly, Fira isn't just doing it for her mother, she wants to meet the father she never knew.
Faced with impossible challenges, Fira, Nia, Opal, Alice, Oak, Willow, Violet, and Frost begin the sequel to Misty Wings.
How do you like it? Im sorry I cut out so many of the previous characters. But I figured since most of your characters from CT are in it you wont mind. Please leave your comments!
Chapter Eighteen- Nix
Fira
Her front paws were chained to the wall but she still had room to move around. She struggled in the chains as she stood looking at shade sternly.
“Im back!” Shade teased in a mocking tone, “Are you happy to see me?”
“I have no other choice.” Grimaced my mother. She turned her head away from him. He walked over to her and turned her head to face him.
“You will love becoming queen.” She coughed as dust hit her in the face from his hands. He was like a tornado in the shape of a fairy. Suddenly I felt shatters hand yank me and I fell back behind the corner in the wall. I sprawled out, letting go of Shatter’s hand. I looked over and saw that Shatter had hit a minion and fell back, sending Nia, Dorn, and I sprawling to either side of her. It took me a few moments to realize that I wasn’t invisible anymore. A few minions had noticed us and they were staring wide-eyed. If only Opal were here. She would be able to turn us into minions. But she was out the door with Blitz. Had Shade heard us?
Yes. He had. He turned the corner just as I stood up. He grimaced and looked so angry I thought he was going to kill me.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?” He yelled. I stepped back a few inches away from him. He came forward. I flew up, my wings going as fast as possible. My wings were flaming, literally. It’s what happens when I go fast. Flames flew behind me as I flew as high as I could in the tall room. Shade appeared in front of me. Oh no! I had forgotten that Shadow fairies could disappear and reappear anywhere they wanted. I backed away from him but he flew forward. He tackled me and I found myself sprawled out on the ground, spitting dust out of my mouth. He appeared above me, practically flaming with anger. I prepared a fire ball behind my back and whipped my paw in front of me, sending the fire ball straight at him. It shot through his stomach, leaving a scorching spot in his cloak. His body quickly repaired itself, but it made him even more mad.
“Who ARE you?” He bellowed. What was I supposed to say? Quickly, Nia covered for me.
“Why do you care!” Screamed Nia, “Leave her alone!”
“You want to interfere, do you fairy?” He grimaced and shot a ball of dust her way. It encircled her and suddenly she was on the ground fighting the litter of dust that was encircling her. When it subsided she was sprawled out on a ground. He had turned her into a minion.
“What did you do to her!” I screamed.
“I can do the same to you!” He yelled, threatening me.
“No!” I heard Nix scream from around the corner.
“What do you care!? We don’t want these fairies ruining our plans!”
“They aren’t my plans! And that’s my daughter your talking to!” He waved his hand and chains appeared out of nowhere, wrapping around my paws and attatching me to the wall.
“Well in that case welcome to the family!” He muttered enthusiastically. My mother put her head in her paws and started to cry.
“This isn’t the Shade I once knew.” Dorn muttered to himself from across the room.. Shade turned his attention on Shatter. He turned her into a Minion too and caged them both up. I felt helpless, but probably nothing compared to what they felt, being caged up. I set my fiery eyes on Shade. He rolled his eyes.
“Looks like I’ve already defeated you. Now what to do, what to do…” I suddenly remembered Opal and Blitz. Where they ok? Had they ran away? Where they waiting outside? They needed to come in now. As if on que two minions creaked open the door and lazily flew in. I knew it was them. Shade barely noticed them but Opal flew to where Nix was and released her chains, but Shade kept his eyes fixed on me. He shook his head.
“Brave little princess thought she could defeat me? Well that’s a shame.” Nix flew above shade without him noticing and pummeled him with gallons of water. He collapsed into a puddle of dust, stuck within the water. My mom came over and hugged me. She released the chains and looked at me, her eyes filled with tears.
“Hello Fira.” Was all she could make out before she embraced me in a big hug. Opal and Blitz transformed back. And Blitz quickly transformed a leaf into a bottle and collected Shade’s remains.
“Is he dead?” Asked Dorn, completely mystified. Nix smiled.
“Shadows never die, yet they never really live.” I finally got the chance to study my mother. Her light tan fur looked completely untouched and her light blue eyes were sparkling. She wore a pendant around her neck- a blue gem given to her as a gift from Shade long ago. She still wore it to this day. She must have really loved him.
Authors Note:
One thing I struggle with is the Climax's in books. I just cant seem to make the Climax exciting. At least not as exciting as I wish. I am going to write one more final chapter and then im hoping to write a sequel. Alice, I think I will have Drayven enter the story in the sequel. I want some ideas on what the sequel should be about. I still have some ideas but I want to hear from you what would interest you the most. Leave your ideas in the comments! I will wait for a few comments before the next chapter.
Some of my ideas:
- The kingdom has gone into chaos when they return and the story revolves around that.
- One of the subtopics in the story could be Dorn and Shala (Have you noticed them flirting? XD)
